Stunning ‘Caribbean-like’ beach that’s one of the last places in Britain to see the sunset each day

Published on April 01, 2025 at 02:10 PM

JUST north of Land's End is one of the UK's most beautiful beaches.

Sennen Cove has an incredible coastline that it can be enjoyed until the very last moment, as it gets some of the country's final rays of sunshine each day.

Anyone wanting to savour every ray of sun this year should consider visiting the Cornish village of Sennen Cove.

In the peak summer months, Sennen Cove is one of the last places to watch the sunset, thanks to its location in the westernmost part of the UK.

During the longest days in June, Sennen Cove sees the sunset at 9.36PM with the last light vanishing almost an hour later at 10.21PM.

The sunset seems to last longer too, because the sun sets over the sea rather than land – so you can watch the reflection on the water.

You can enjoy the sunset on what visitors have said is one of the most “beautiful beaches” in Cornwall.

One holidaymaker described Sennen Beach as the “jewel in the crown when visiting Land's End” in their Tripadvisor review.

Another visitor who went on a hike across the Cornish coastline said they saw “golden beaches, bright blue sea worthy of any Caribbean destination, and coastal walks that weren't a struggle even for a basic walker like myself.”

It's the perfect place to swim and paddle too, with lifeguards being on duty from Easter bank holiday until the beginning of November, between 10AM and 6PM.

Sennen Cove is also considered a surfer's paradise.

It's one of the best beaches for watersports in the country as the sea picks up swells, making it perfect for catching waves.

There are multiple surfing schools along the front which cater to every type of surfer from the beginner to the more experienced.

The bay is considered very safe as it's shaped like a crescent moon, with the bigger waves tending to be towards the northern end of the beach.

Another stop in Sennen Cove is the Old Success Inn, which is perched on the coastal path opposite the beach.

The eatery dates back to the 17th century and it's location makes it the best place to enjoy sea views with lunch.

They offer lots of meals from your classic fish and chips to salt and pepper squid, and hearty Sunday roasts – you can even stay there in one of their 24 rooms (prices start at £150 per night).

For any keen walkers, you can hike along the coastal path from Sennen Cove to Land's End.

It's just over three miles long and is generally flat with one long climb to Mayon Cliff – where you'll see a shipwreck.

A short drive from Sennen Cove is the Minack Theatre, the open-air venue that was built in 1932.

During the summer months, when the light lasts the longest, it puts on stage performances from plays to concerts.

Here Are The Three Best UK Beaches According To Tripadvisor

Tripadvisor announced its 'Best of Beaches for 2025' sorted purely by review data - and here are the ones in the UK...

Weymouth Beach in Dorset is a firm favourite and for its fourth year in a row has cemented a spot on the list, this time in twentieth place. One of the biggest appeals of Weymouth Beach is that it's sandy and the waters are shallow, making it a prime location for young families. You also don't have to go very far if you want food or drink as the promenade is lined with coffee shops or places to grab fish and chips.

The sandy beach at Gorleston-on-Sea, in Norfolk, is also one of UK's best. The beach in Norfolk stretches for three miles and is considered to be quieter than the famous Great Yarmouth beach which is two miles up the road. Thanks to its sandy banks, it's a great place for sunbathing, but the winds also make it a great spot for surfing, bodyboarding, and kite-flying.

The anniversary list is made of all-time data rather than just a year's worth, which means Bournemouth Beach has been a family-favourite for over two decades. Also found in Dorset, Bournemouth Beach spans over seven-miles and the promenade is lined with Instagrammable multi-coloured beach huts.
