EPL: 3 matches we could see shock results in Game Week 12

Published on October 19, 2022 at 06:12 PM

The Premier League is going through with its fixture pile-up before the 2022 World Cup kicks-off in Qatar.

This means we have midweek games to look forward to.

Arsenal vs Manchester City has been moved because of the Gunners’ Europa League engagements.

But what three matches could we see shocking results on Wednesday?

1. Brentford vs Chelsea: Thomas Frank’s men will be looking to record back-to-back victories at home when they welcome Chelsea to the Brentford Community Stadium. Although the Blues are yet to lose under new manager Graham Potter, they have not particularly played well. Luck and dodgy refereeing have seen Chelsea unbeaten under the former Brighton coach. It could all unravel against the Bees.

2. Liverpool vs West Ham: Yes, Liverpool claimed a huge 1-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday. Yes, they played well against the Premier League champions. But even Mohamed Salah’s goal had elements of fortune around it, as Joao Cancelo was somehow left all alone in defence in the 70th minute of the game, with the scores 0-0. West Ham will be stubborn and compact, looking to hit Liverpool on the break and claim a shock result.

3. Newcastle vs Everton: At Old Trafford on Sunday, Newcastle did not look their very best and that match against Manchester United could have easily gone either ways. Everton were desperately unlucky to lose to an abject Tottenham Hotspur side. This game at the typically raucous St James’ Park will be one to keep an eye on, as Frank Lampard might hand Dominic Calvert-Lewin his first start of the season in attack too.
