EPL: Arsenal suffer fresh major injury blow

Published on April 03, 2025 at 02:46 PM

Arsenal have suffered a fresh injury blow ahead of their Premier League clash with Everton this weekend.

The Premier west North London club confirmed in a statement via their website on Thursday that defender Gabriel Magalhaes has sustained a hamstring injury.

Recall that the Brazilian international picked up the injury during Arsenal's Premier League 2-1 win against Fulham in mid-week.

Gabriel was replaced by Jakub Kiwior in the first half of the encounter at Emirates Stadium.

Providing an update on Gabriel, Arsenal said the defender will undergo a surgical repair procedure to his hamstring in the coming days.

“Gabi will undergo a surgical repair procedure to his hamstring in the coming days, and immediately begin his recovery and rehabilitation programme, with the aim to be ready for the start of next season,” Arsenal's statement partly read.

“Everyone at the club will be fully focused on supporting Gabi to ensure he is back to full fitness as soon as possible.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will hope to have his key defender Gabriel back on time for their Champions League quarter-final tie with Real Madrid next week.
