EPL: He’s strong – Merson advises Arsenal target to join Man Utd

Arsenal legend Paul Merson has advised the club's transfer target, Liam Delap, to consider joining Manchester United or Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.

Delap, who currently plays for Ipswich Town, has been linked with Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, and other Premier League clubs this summer.

Delap, who joined Ipswich Town from Manchester City, has scored 12 Premier League goals so far this season.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Merson said: “He’s a talent, £30m is not a lot of money for a player of his age. For me, who ticks the box would be Aston Villa. I just think with a bigger club, like Chelsea or Arsenal, Man City, they sit 10 behind the ball.”

He added, “I think Manchester United would be a good fit, I think Manchester United would be a brilliant fit for him. He’s willing, he makes good runs, he is strong, he can hold the ball up, and he can score goals.”

Both Manchester United and Arsenal are keen to sign a striker in the summer to bolster their squads.
