EPL: Man Utd vs Tottenham – Big test for Ten Hag, Conte

Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night is a significant match.

Third meets fifth at Old Trafford, as United seek to return to winning ways.

It is also the first time Erik ten Hag and Antonio Conte will face each other in their managerial careers.

In their last fixtures, the Red Devils played out a grating 0-0 draw with Newcastle United, while Spurs beat Everton 2-0 even though they didn’t play well.

Having seen his side’s three-game winning run come to an abrupt end on Sunday, Ten Hag must pick up the pieces and help his side regain some ground on the top four.

United have now fallen three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea after nine matches and both sides clash this weekend at Stamford Bridge.

For Conte’s men, this is a great opportunity to move into second place behind North London rivals, Arsenal, who are the early pacesetters in the Premier League.

The last time they played United on their home turf, Cristiano Ronaldo rolled back the years with a superb hat-trick to win it 3-2.

Conte is now facing the reality of suffering a fourth consecutive defeat away to the Red Devils as a manager.

A change in formation can be expected from Tottenham given Kulusevski and Richarlison’s injuries, with Yves Bissouma likely to be introduced into a 3-5-2 formation, while Kane will aim to become the first Tottenham player in history to score in six successive Premier League games.
