EPL: You don’t have pace, took five years to make pass – Morrison slams Man Utd star

Published on November 07, 2022 at 01:29 PM

Former Premier League star, Clinton Morrison has slammed Manchester United midfielder, Donny van de Beek, following the Red Devils̢۪ Premier League 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday.

Morrison said that Van de Beek doesn̢۪t have pace, adding that the former Ajax star took five years to make a pass during the encounter at Villa Park.

Van de Beek noticeably struggled in the absence of Bruno Fernandes, who was suspended, as Aston Villa defeated Man United.

Goals from Leon Bailey, Lucas Digne and Jacob Ramsey gave Unai Emery̢۪s side all three points against Man United.

“I think Bruno Fernandes is key for Manchester United. Donny van de Beek hasn’t played a lot of football,” Morrison told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“I watched him the other night against Real Sociedad and he looked a bit short, so I was surprised [to see him in the starting XI] and it’s a big call for [Erik] Ten Hag to put him in there.

“Donny van de Beek took about five years to play the ball out and that is why he isn’t up to the pace with it.

“It was a great play from Diogo Dalot, when Van de Beek gets there, he should just spin it in the channels straight away.

“Marcus Rashford made a great run and can’t get back onside by the time Donny van de Beek plays it,” he added.
