EPL: You should’ve left Old Trafford – Man Utd legend tells Ronaldo

Published on November 02, 2022 at 03:49 PM

Manchester United legend, Teddy Sheringham, has said that forward Cristiano Ronaldo should have left Old Trafford before the start of the season.

According to Sheringham, keeping Ronaldo against his wishes was a recipe for disaster.

Ahead of the 2022-2023 season, Ronaldo was heavily linked with a move away from Man United, but the transfer did not materialize.

The Portugal captain, who has received criticism for his behaviour so far this season, has struggled to score goals for the Red Devils.

The 37-year-old was recently suspended by manager Erik ten Hag after refusing to come on as a substitute against Tottenham and storming down the tunnel before the end of the match.

When asked whether or not Ronaldo’s time at Man United was up, Sheringham told OLBG: “Ronaldo should have moved on at the start of the season when he made it clear that he wanted to leave.

“It is not ideal to have an unhappy superstar in your camp. If Ronaldo isn’t 100% committed to the cause, it isn’t good for the rest of the squad, no matter the player.”
