Europa League: Barcelona to play two extra matches

Published on October 27, 2022 at 08:24 AM

Barcelona must play in the Europa League Round of 32 after they crashed out of the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The LaLiga giants were knocked out of Europe’s elite competition, before they even kicked off at the Nou Camp against Barcelona.

It is the second consecutive season Barca have been knocked out of the Champions League group stage.

Because they have dropped into the Europa League as a result of their failure in the Champions League, Barcelona must feature in a playoff round to actually qualify for the last 16.

In that two-legged tie, they will take on one of the teams who finish the Europa League group stage as runners-up.

Those two matches will be played on February 16 and February 23, 2023.

The draw will be made prior to the start of the World Cup on November 7.
