Ex-Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey lands new managerial job

Published on April 19, 2025 at 07:01 PM

Former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has landed a new managerial role.

The Welshman has been tasked with attempting to save Cardiff City from relegation after manager Omer Riza was dismissed.

Recall that Cardiff parted company with Riza following their 2-0 defeat at Sheffield United on Good Friday.

The result leaves the Bluebirds in 23rd position in the Sky Bet Championship table, one point adrift of safety.

A statement from Cardiff read: “Cardiff City FC can confirm that a decision has been taken to relieve Omer Riza of his duties as first team manager.

“Aaron Ramsey will lead the club for the remaining three games of the Sky Bet Championship season, beginning with Monday’s match at home to Oxford United.”

Cardiff’s next fixture is against Oxford United on Monday.
