Fighting continues in Russian border regions despite Putin’s Easter ceasefire declaration – Zelenskyy

Published on April 20, 2025 at 05:52 AM

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine said fighting is ongoing in Russia's border regions of Kursk and Belgorod despite President Vladimir Putin's declaration of a Eastern ceasefire.

In a post on social media, Zelenskyy said Putin's Easter statements did not spread to two Russian border regions where Ukrainian forces have made incursions.

“Kursk and Belgorod regions – Putin's Easter statements did not spread to this territory. Fighting continues, Russian strikes continue,” he said.

The Ukrainian leader did not, however, provide evidence to substantiate his claims.

DAILY POST reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier in the day , after Washington said it might abandon peace talks within days unless Moscow and Kyiv show they are ready to stop the war.
