Published on April 12, 2025 at 09:33 PM

An unspecified number of cars, motorcycles, computer sets, and other properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed as a result of a tanker explosion in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

DAILY POST gathered that a tanker carrying premium motor spirit, also known as petroleum, exploded at Lead City University Road, near the Ibadan Toll Gate end of the expressway on Saturday.

The incident occurred at 2:45 pm.

It was learned that some of the cars and motorcycles parked along the road were engulfed by fire.

It was also reported that some shops along the road were affected, while the driver and his apprentice narrowly escaped.

Security operatives have been strategically positioned in the area to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

The General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, Yemi Akinyinka, confirmed the incident to DAILY POST on Saturday.

“Yes. It is true. Our men have been mobilised to the scene of the incident,” he said.
