A POPULAR steakhouse chain has revealed it is giving away 500 free Wagyu steaks in April, to celebrate the opening of its newest restaurant.

Flat Iron, which has 18 UK stores, is offering customers the chance to try its £23 steak, completely free.

The chain is opening a new location in Southbank, London, on April 4, but if you head on over to the venue a day earlier, on April 3, you could grab a juicy steak, completely for free.

To nab yourself a free steak, all you need to do is head to the new location, in Southbank's Royal Festival Hall, from 5pm on April 3, and be of the first 500 people to arrive.

The steaks will be available on a first-come-first-served basis, and will be given out until the restaurant runs out.

Fred Smith, Flat Iron’s Head of Beef said: “This is going to be our biggest ever steak give away in London – and what better way to kick things off than with our super juicy and remarkable Wagyu.

“We’ll be serving a selection of our favourite cuts.

“We’re looking forward to seeing what you think of both the beef and the restaurant.”;

Wagyu beef is among the most expensive meats in the world, due to its exceptional quality, and specialised raising practices.

Wagyu cows are raised in a stress-free environment, which improves the quality of the meat and is renowned for its exceptional marbling, which makes the steak juicy an flavourful.

Flat Iron has steak restaurants across London, Cambridge, Leeds and Manchester.

The company believes in “great steak for everyone”, and has one of the best deals for steak in London.

And their beef even comes from their own Flat Iron herd in Yorkshire, which allows them to serve high quality meat at low prices.

But Flat Iron isn't the only business handing out freebies to shoppers…

M&S Free Biscuits

M&S customers were left overjoyed this week, after discovering that the well-loved supermarket was giving out biscuits for free.

The Outrageously Chocolatey Milk Chocolate Biscuits typically cost £6 at M&S stores.

How to eat for cheap

Eating out can burn a hole in your budget, says Sun Savers editor Lana Clements, but there are a few tricks to get a meal for less.

SECRET EATS: Mystery diners can get a free meal in exchange for giving feedback on their experience.

There are a number of firms that recruit people to dine and review.

You need to sign up to one that will give you a location and a brief on what to asses on the visit.

Try Hgem, which works with restaurants including Dishoom, Flat Iron and Brewdog.

Normally, you pay for the food and then get reimbursed for your visit. Apply at mysterydining.net.

Service Scan works with fast food outlets as well as top-end gourmet establishments. See service-scan.com.

LEARNERS: You can get cut-price food by sampling menus from trainee chefs. Catering colleges often have restaurants with delicious meals that are whipped up by students.

They are usually only open in term time and you will have to dig around to find your nearest venue.

For example, The Stables Restaurant is part of Oaklands College in Hertfordshire. Or you could try the Scholars Restaurant at City of Glasgow College.

DO IT FOR THE KIDS: During the holidays, numerous chains run kids-eat-free or cheap offers that cut the cost of going out as a family.

For example previous offers have seen up to two children get a free meal all day at Bills when one adult ordered a main dish. The kids’ menu includes mac and cheese, as well as fish fingers and chips.

At Subway, children got a 4in sub, snack and drink for free when an adult bought a foot-long sub.

To qualify for the offer you first need to be a Sparks Member, which is M&S's free loyalty scheme.

It gives shoppers the chance to get offers that are tailored to them.

You will also then need to register for the M&S Parenthood Club.

This can be done if you go into the “My Account” section of your Sparks app and then click on “Subscriptions & clubs”.

You should see the option to register for Parent Hood.

It is free to sign up for this club but you must be an expectant parent or have a child under two years old.

Once you register, you should see the offer to claim the free biscuits in store.
