Show legend Joe Cole made his final ever appearance in the programme's second episode when Sean Wallace was brutally killed after an explosive chase across London after he managed to break free from prison.

Amid rising tension following his recent prison visit with Eliot, Sean was able to break free from prison in transit after a plot conducted by his brother Billy and uncle Cornelius.

The duo organised a huge smash in Central London which caused the police van transporting Sean to crash in which he then had to brutally murder the two police officers accompanying him with their own guns.

Although Sean was quickly free, the Police, as well as a desperate Eliot in search of answers, were quick to locate them and gunfire rang out across the streets of London resulting in a number of police officer deaths.

Scurrying to safety, Sean finds himself inside a sauna full of naked men but he is quickly tracked down where even more violence breaks out in the shower block.

Soon, Eliot offers to help Sean in return for information on how his wife and young son were killed in a horror smash seven years earlier.

Although Sean agrees, he soon gets away and is left begging for help from some street-wise drug dealers, unaware that Luan has placed a bounty on his head for £2million and now everyone is desperate to kill him in exchange for cash.

It sees Sean running for his life once more – now with more people, including strangers, after him than ever before.

During his chase, he finds himself at Lale's place where he vows with her to “make things right” if she can help him out with a car and some cash.

Although, at first she appears to listen, she soon pulls out a gun and shoots Sean in his stomach leaving him badly injured.

Belieiving she has killed him, she orders Luan over in order to collect the money but she soon realises Sean survived and has escaped once more – next to a run-down inner-city London boozer.

The landlady takes pity on him and stitches his wounds back together whilst he is unconscious from the blood loss he has suffered.

She later reveals that Sean's father was good to her and her husband and wrote off their son's drug debts in a rare act of kindness.

With Sean desperate to make it to Greenwich where Billy and Cornelius are waiting with a helicopter to get him out of London, the landlady's husband is forced to trek him through disused tunnels underground in London.

But Luan and his cronies soon figure out where he is after tracking him down to the pub.

Following him, they catch up to him and shoot dead the pub landlord but Sean luckily escapes once again.

Eventually emerging out of a tunnel in Greenwich, Eliot has already tracked him down but it is someone else who gets to Sean.

Amid yet another violent scuffle, an unknown man knock out Sean and drags him into the back of his car.

He later has Sean tied to a chair in an abandoned house and stares him down.

As Sean insists he can pay the mystery man off, he insists he needs no money and fails to offer a reason as to why he has kidnapped him.

The man then picks up his gun as Sean says: “You can't kill me – I'm a Wallace.

“I'm Sean f***ing Wallace, I'm a proper f***ing c***.”

In that moment, the man unleashes rounds of gunfire onto Sean as bullets plough into him and blood spurts from all parts of his body.

Sean is then laid on the floor dying as blood pours from his mouth.

Finishing the job off, the man shoots Sean again – leaving him dead.
