According to gardening expert Leanne Samuelson, from Prestige Botanicals, a breakfast item will leave your grass looking greener and more luscious than ever.
She revealed that banana peels can be used as a cost-effective DIY fertiliser for your grass, reports the Express.
Leanne praised the breakfast leftover for providing vital nutrients to your soil.
The expert explained that everything you need for a flourishing garden can be found in your kitchen after a tasty breakfast.
“All you need is a banana, an egg, and a cup of coffee,” she told green-fingered enthusiasts.
Leanne shared that these items that you would usually bin have a variety of benefits for your garden.
“These breakfast scraps are a slow-release fertiliser, pest deterrent, and soil booster, all rolled into one,” she said.
She recommended mixing your banana peels, egg shells, and leftover coffee grounds together.
“I pop my banana peels, crushed eggshells, and coffee grounds into a big zip-lock bag,” Leanne explained.
“I then stash it in an opaque bag in the bottom drawer of my fridge. When I’m ready, I mix them into the garden soil, and my plants thrive.”

Bananas are known to be rich in potassium, and this includes their peels.
Also high in phosphorous, they make a great fertiliser for your soil, helping plants and grass to grow stronger.
Potassium also plays an important role in flower production.
By carrying out this step now, you can ensure your garden has a lush look by summer.
You can also soak banana peels in water to create a nutrient-rich solution for your garden.
