Published on March 26, 2025 at 05:49 PM

General Abdourahamane Tchiani was Wednesday, officially sworn in as the transitional leader of the Republic of Niger for a five-year term.
The inauguration ceremony took place in a major conference hall in Niamey, attended by key political figures, including former President Mahamadou Issoufou.

In addition to his swearing-in, Tchiani was promoted to a five-star general, a move seen as further solidifying his power.

This development has sparked mixed reactions. While some support it, others argue that it contradicts previous transitional agreements.

As Nigeriens watch closely, many are eager to see how the transitional government will manage national affairs and whether a clear roadmap for a civilian-led government will emerge in the near future.
