BBC facing backlash over ‘shameful’ treatment of Gladiators contestant in grand final

GLADIATOR Legend has been accused of costing finalist Mus Dumbuya the series title by changing the rules of a key event to boost his own giant ego.

Viewers hit out at the star, real name , after he refused to give Mus, 32. the customary head start in the Wall, a challenge the youth worker had dominated him on throughout the series.

In a show first, referee agreed to request to race Mus head-to-head, with fellow finalist Joe Fishburn, 26, doing likewise with Apollo, rather than the two Gladiators chasing the contestants up the wall simultaneously.

However, much to his obvious satisfaction, beat Mus to the top of the wall first, meaning the youth worker only received five points, rather than ten, which he would likely have been awarded if the event rules had not changed, given his supremacy in the challenge.

And after Joe beat , who is not a specialist on wall, he was awarded the full ten points which enabled him to add a few seconds onto his head start against Mus in the episode’s cliffhanger, the Eliminator – which he won setting a series record.

Fans were quick to vent their fury at Legend for influencing the rule change, believing it gave eventual winner Joe an unfair advantage.

Taking to social media, one angry fan wrote: “Changing the rules on The Wall for the final cost Mus a 15pts differential.

“He would have beaten Legend with the headstart under normal race rules and was miles faster than Joe.

“It was his best event and the rules change was an incredible disadvantage. Shame on producers.”;

Another added: “I like Legend but his antics on The Wall cost Mus 10 points and a crucial five seconds at the end could have made all the difference.”;

A third chimed in: “Mus was robbed. That twist in The Wall cost him valuable points that would have made all the difference in the Eliminator.”;

Meanwhile, gym owner Amanda Wah, 36, beat supply teacher Aneila Afsar, 26, in the women’s final on Saturday night’s show, hosted by Bradley and Barney Walsh.
