A spin-off of the hit series “Hospital Playlist,”; tvN’s “Resident Playbook”; is a new drama depicting the realistic and relatable hospital lives, growth, and heartwarming friendships of residents at the Jongro branch of Yulje Medical Center.

Resident Oh Yi Young (Go Youn Jung) is slowly adjusting to life at the hospital, showing signs of growth along the way. To pay off her debts, Oh Yi Young became a resident in the obstetrics and gynecology department at the medical center. With her seemingly indifferent attitude, she quickly captured the attention of her colleagues, senior doctors, and professors. Known for speaking her mind in any situation, she drew the attention of Professor Seo Jung Min (Lee Bong Ryun), a tough, no-nonsense figure in the field, foreshadowing the social challenges that lie ahead for Oh Yi Young.
Things became even more difficult as the heavy workload and the manipulative behavior of fellow Myung Eun Won (Kim Hye In) made Oh Yi Young consider quitting. Although she contemplated running away with a giant bag—almost as if moving—emergency alerts echoing throughout the hospital kept her grounded.
During a patient transfer, Oh Yi Young could not walk away from a patient in pain and chose to stay and help. She also comforted a patient about to undergo major surgery. Though she appears indifferent on the surface, her kind heart makes a lasting impact on those around her. The experience of delivering a baby for the first time leaves a profound impression on her.
Oh Yi Young also surprised everyone when she stepped in to assist Professor Seo Jung Min in the operating room, taking over suturing from Chief Resident Gu Do Won (Jung Joon Won). After the surgery, Seo Jung Min praised her, saying, “You have good hands.”; This marked a turning point, shifting her reputation from a flight risk to a promising talent for the future.
Despite her initial awkwardness in social situations, Oh Yi Young gradually wins people over and becomes friends with her coworkers. She also takes the first step to make peace, ignoring Kim Sa Bi’s (Han Ye Ji‘s) jealousy when she threw away a stocky note with Oh Yi Young’s work details.
Oh Yi Young’s direct approach toward her unrequited love, senior resident Gu Do Won, is also stirring excitement among viewers. Gu Do Won defended her when she was misunderstood by a resident from another department due to Myung Eun Won. He also comforted her after she made a mistake in the operating room, causing her to fall even deeper for him.
Oh Yi Young intensifies the tension by sending longing looks to Gu Do Won and suggesting they eat frozen pork belly, his favorite dish. During a group photo, she boldly grabs his hand first, further heightening the emotions. This has left viewers even more eager to see how Oh Yi Young’s social life—blending medical, personal, and romantic elements—will unfold.
