First-year OB-GYN residents Oh Yi Young (Go Youn Jung), Pyo Nam Kyung (Shin Si Ah), Um Jae Il (Kang You Seok), and Kim Sa Bi (Han Ye Ji) may have started out as awkward coworkers, but they’re steadily becoming true friends. In the beginning, Oh Yi Young, Pyo Nam Kyung, and Kim Sa Bi often turned down Um Jae Il’s repeated dinner invitations, highlighting just how reserved they were around each other.
However, after enduring relentless calls from Myung Eun Won (Kim Hye In), navigating back-to-back tasks with barely a moment to eat, and confiding in one another about their struggles with patients and work, the four began to lean on each other. Oh Yi Young turned to Kim Sa Bi for help with a daunting procedure, and Pyo Nam Kyung and Um Jae Il grew closer through simple acts like sharing snacks.
A key moment that signaled a shift came when Yi Young, Nam Kyung, and Sa Biâwho had always declined Jae Il’s dinner offersâwere the ones to suggest they finally eat together. It was a small but meaningful step that showed just how far their friendship had come.
The warm chemistry between juniors and seniors also adds richness to the story. For these first-year residents, who still struggle with even the basics, their senior residents provide unwavering supportâmaking sure they’re eating, resting, and emotionally hanging in there.
Among them, Chief Resident Gu Do Won (Jung Joon Won) has become a standout presence. Always quick to appear when the first-years are in need, his dependable and compassionate nature is a source of comfort not only to the characters but to viewers as well.
The bond between residents and nurses is also taking shape. As the backbone of the OB-GYN ward, the nursesâwho know the ins and outs of the hospital, from patient care to each professor’s quirksâquietly guide the residents as unofficial mentors. Their growing camaraderie adds yet another layer of warmth and humanity to the story.
