Gov Mohammed postpones Bauchi’s sallah durbar festival

The Bauchi State government has approved the postponement of the 2025 Durbar Festival, a major cultural event traditionally held during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

The decision was made by the Bauchi Emirate Council without prior consultation with the state government.

Mukhtar Gidado, media aide to Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, announced the postponement on Friday, March 21, 2025.

Despite earlier preparations for security and logistics, the governor granted approval for the delay while expressing regret over the lack of prior communication.

The Durbar Festival is a significant event in Bauchi, attracting residents, tourists, and dignitaries.

It plays a key role in the state’s cultural and economic activities.

The state government apologized for any inconvenience caused and assured that steps would be taken to avoid similar issues in the future.

Governor Mohammed also extended his Sallah greetings to the Emir of Bauchi, the Emirate Council, and the people of the state, wishing them a peaceful celebration.
