Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, and his Edo State counterpart, Governor Monday Okpebholo, visited the Torankawa community in Kano on Monday to console the families of the 16 victims brutally killed in Uromi, Edo State.
The visit brought together key government officials and community leaders, underscoring the commitment of both states to ensuring justice for the slain individuals.

Governor Yusuf, speaking through his spokesperson Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident and demanded swift prosecution of those responsible. He assured the families that the government would not relent until justice was served.

“This visit is not just about condolence; it is about reaffirming our commitment to justice. The families of these victims deserve more than words—they deserve action. We will not rest until every perpetrator is brought to book, publicly paraded, and held accountable,”; Yusuf stated.

He also called on the Edo State Government to expedite compensation for the victims’ families, stressing that many households had been thrown into distress due to the loss of their breadwinners.

Governor Okpebholo, in his remarks, assured the families that security agencies were making progress in the investigation and that justice would be swift.

“I want to personally assure you that we are treating this case with the urgency it deserves. Edo is home to all Nigerians, and this kind of violence will not be tolerated,”; he said.

Leaders of the Torankawa community expressed appreciation for the visit, noting that it had helped ease tensions and restore faith in the government’s commitment to their welfare.

In response, the Emir of Kano, His Highness Amb. Muhammad Isa Umar, commended the two governors for their swift intervention in handling the tragic incident.

The Kano State Government reaffirmed its resolve to continue monitoring the case until justice is fully served.
