Grand National tip: This huge 40-1 outsider will relish the stamina-sapping test for a legendary trainer

Published on April 04, 2025 at 03:00 PM

SUN Racing takes on the Grand National confident of finding the winner at a tasty price.

The big race is due off at 4pm on Saturday, live on ITV1.

Some 34 runners will go to post all chasing a place in history – and £500,000 prize.

There is a million quid up for grabs in all though, with prizes paid out all the way down to tenth.

So it's definitely worth backing our tips each way and, hopefully, picking up some cash even if you don't win.

LONGSHOT

THREEUNDERTHRUFIVE (4.00 Aintree)

He was fourth in the Scottish National so won’t run out of petrol and has improved his jumping a lot.

EACH WAY THIEF

CRUZ CONTROL (2.30 Aintree)

He won this race 12 months ago and comes here fresh off a mark that’s just 3lb higher than last year.

MINELLA COCOONER (4.00 Aintree)

He showed enough quality and stamina to win the Bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown and is an excellent jumper. He looks on a fair weight and won’t be far away.
