Theofferwill come into play later this week, but there's a catch to getting one on the house.

Customers will only be able to enjoy a free pint depending on the weather.

At the first drop ofrainfrom April 3 to 10, every Greene King location will offer you a pint free of charge.

The deal will apply for 48 hours after the time it rains, with a limit of one pint per person.

Greene King has even installed rain detectors in six of their beer gardens across the UK.

The locations monitoring the rain are London, Birmingham, Leeds, Bristol,Glasgow, and Wallingford inOxfordshire.

If any of the above pubs register rain, punters will be able to go to any of the 900 locations and redeem the deal.

And the key phrase in question?

“It's raining, please pour me a free pint.”

You cancheck the Greene King’s website,as well as theirInstagram orFacebook, to see if the deal has been triggered.

Pub goers may even find themselves hoping for bad weather when heading for a pint.

The unique deal is intended to boost footfall during the quieter spring months.

So come rain, hail, or shine, why not head to your local Greene King location?

Zoe Bowley, managing director at Greene King pubs explained the inspiration behind the initiative.

“Pub gardens have always been the heart of British social life, places where friends gather, stories are shared, and good times flow as freely as the pints,” she said.

NHS guidelines on drinking alcohol

According to the NHS, regularly drinking more than 14 units of alcohol a week risks damaging your health.

To keep health risks from alcohol to a low level if you drink most weeks:

  • men and women are advised not to drink more than 14 units a week on a regular basis
  • spread your drinking over 3 or more days if you regularly drink as much as 14 units a week
  • if you want to cut down, try to have several drink-free days each week

If you're pregnant or think you could become pregnant, the safest approach is not to drink alcohol at all to keep risks to your baby to a minimum.

“Good times are almost guaranteed – if only the unpredictable weather didn’t add a plot twist, turning a simple jacket decision into a classic British dilemma.

“We can’t guarantee the weather, but with our ‘When It Rains, We Pour' promise, we're encouraging people to embrace those April showers and make the most of every moment.”

The Greene King initiative is being promoted byGavin and Staceyactor Larry Lamb, who describes a beer garden as a “sanctuary away from the chaos of every day”.

And while the famous saying may be “April Showers”, statistics found that the UK only receives an average of 11 days of rainfall during the month.

So fingers crossed that at least one of these falls over the next week or so.
