GREG Rutherford has praised his “brave” son after he was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery.
Seven-year-old Rex was taken to A&E with appendicitis last week, and had to get his appendix removed.



Covering Rex's face with an emoji, the youngster's blonde hair was shown as he sat in a hospital bed in a photo shared on Instagram Stories.
“We’ve had an eventful few days,” the Olympian wrote. “Finished up with TCA Camps on Thursday to Rex going straight in to hospital with appendicitis that night.”
In a second photo, which saw the tot lying in bed with his face covered once again, he added: “He was so brave start to finish and now back at home requesting all the food.
“Think those hours he was nil by mouth has scarred him.”
He later shared he had taken his other two children, Milo, 10, and three-year-old Daphne, trampolining to get them out the house while Rex recovered.
Greg previously joked that middle child â with both of them suffering injuries over the last year.
Last year, Rex was taken to hospital , with Greg noting: “It would seem we have created my exact replica in Rexy.
“Another head injury to leave another scar.
“He's got a few more to go to match me but he's doing his best to catch.”
Greg has had his own injuries to deal with over the past year, after hein Dancing on Ice rehearsals.

Speaking to, 64, on her show after his exit he said: “I am a lot better thank you.
“I have had to have surgery to repair the injury, so I had a pretty nasty hernia form and I also detached my lower left ab so less than ideal.”
