Groom kills bride, 6-years-old daughter, 7 days to wedding in Edo

Tragedy has struck in Edo State as a would-be-husband killed his bride, seven days to their wedding ceremony.

DAILY POST reports that the incident happened on March 23, 2025 at Idiagbonya street in Ovbiogie community, along the Benin-Lagos expressway.

DAILY POST also reports that the intended wife was also pregnant at the time she was killed.

The deceased was identified as Osasu Aimienoho lsaac while her six year old daughter, who was also killed, is Aleluya Uwuigbe.

The would-be-husband is Wealth Nnamdi from Imo State.

The lovers who were said to have dated for over three years, and scheduled their marriage for March 29, 2025.

It was gathered that the six-year-old daughter of the deceased was from a previous relationship she had with another man.

The would-be-husband, who is now at large, was said to have joined the deceased and her daughter in an apartment in the community, where she also carried out petty trading.

A source who spoke on condition of anonymity alleged that the couple had an intense disagreement on Sunday, March 23, 2025.

The source said the neighbours who heard the quarrel were not too bothered as the couple quarreled most of the time.

According to him, the quarrel then developed into a fatal one as the would-be-husband murdered the pregnant woman and her daughter in the room before escaping.

“After committing the crime, the man locked up the two deceased persons in the room and escaped to an unknown destination.

“The odour that was emitting from the room attracted neighbours who then called the police.

“The police then forced the door open and took the pregnant woman and her daughter to the mortuary,” he said.

The mother of the deceased intended bride, Mrs Esther Gabriel, said she is still in shock over the murder of her daughter and her grand child.

However, the sister of the deceased who called for justice, appealed to the police to help fish out the fleeing intended groom.

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident.

Yamu assured that the police would get to the root of the matter.
