Group begs Niger govt for increased support in Malaria fight

The Association for Civil Society on Malaria Control, Immunization, and Nutrition, ACOMIN, Niger State has appealed to the government to increase support in the fight against malaria.

This appeal was made during the commemoration of World Malaria Day at Bosso community with the theme “Malaria Ends With Us: Reinvest, Reimagine, Reignite” demands for a changed global effort to eradicate the disease in Minna.

The State Coordinator, ACOMIN, Mr. Olasukanmi Kalejaiye, noted the need for collective efforts to defeat malaria, stressing that a dimensional strategy is required to overcome the disease.

He urged the government to reinvest in proven interventions, reimagine strategies, and reignite efforts to achieve a malaria-free future.

Kalejaiye noted that Nigeria has keyed into the global effort to eliminate malaria, but more needs to be done.

He highlighted the need for increased national cooperation, addressing fragile health systems, and ensuring equitable access to prevention and treatment services.

As part of the commemoration, ACOMIN conducted free malaria tests and treatment for hundreds of community members in Minna.

The traditional leader of Bosso community, Alhaji Muazu Laka, commended ACOMIN for the initiative and urged his community members to visit health facilities for their health needs.
