Convicted AK47 gunman who fled Albania for UK uses legal loophole to avoid deportation

A GUNMAN who fled to the UK after sparking terror with an AK-47 assault rifle has used a legal loophole to stay.

Isak Buna, 29, wounded a man with a ricocheted bullet after blasting a volley of shots into the air during a row.

He was sentenced to five years, four months’ jail but fled to .

Cops in his homeland issued a wanted poster and the Met Police arrested him in January.

But Albanian authorities were blocked from extraditing him after his lawyers at Westminster magistrates’ court successfully argued it was now too late to prosecute.

A spokeswoman said: “The Home Office has worked with the National Extradition Unit on Mr Buna’s case.

“Due to the statute of limitations laws in Albania the extradition request was removed

The Home Office did not say if Buna was seeking asylum or had been granted leave to remain.
