Haaland foot injury fears on miserable Dortmund return as he cuts elbow and makes almost zero impact in Man City draw

ERLING HAALAND was hooked at half-time on a miserable return to Borussia Dortmund amid fears he has injured his foot.

There are also concerns over him being tired and suffering from a fever.

Haaland had just 13 touches in the game against Dortmund

The 22-year-old, who left Dortmund over the summer in a £51million transfer, failed to make an impact against his old side.

Haaland had just 13 touches, registered NO shots on target and made just seven successful passes.

On top of that he suffered a cut elbow.

Blood could be seen streaming from his arm after a coming together.

The two sides went in at half-time level, but Haaland emerged from the tunnel for the second half in a jacket and headed to the bench.

He was replaced with Bernardo Silva.

Neither side managed to find a breakthrough, with Riyad Mahrez missing a spot-kick, and the game ended a draw, which was all but enough for both sides to reach the Champions League knockouts.

Haaland’s substitution raised questions, with boss Pep Guardiola confirming THREE concerns over the 22-goal striker.

The Spaniard said: “Three things. I saw him so tired. Second one there was a bit of influence (fever) in his body. And the third he had a knock in his foot. That is why he was unable to play in the second-half.”

On how bad the injury is, Guardiola said: “I don’t know right now, I spoke to them (the medical staff) at half-time and they were a little bit concerned.”;

He added: “But I saw him walking OK at the end.”

Man City are next due in action against Leicester on Saturday.

It was only the third time this season Haaland has fired a blank in City colours.

The other games he didn’t manage to find the net came against Bournemouth and Liverpool.

One game hardly dents his impressive form though.

He has 22 strikes in just 15 games across all competitions as well as three assists.
