I gave my hallway the ultimate makeover – some say it’s got ‘wow factor’ but others claim it looks like a ‘care home’

A DIY enthusiast has given her hallway a mega makeover but it’s left people very divided.

Molly Allen got the keys to her first home back in 2023 and has since spent the past two years renovating the property.

While some thought the space had ‘wow factor', not everyone was as impressed

Molly and her partner live in a semi-detached, 1930s house in Nottingham and are on a mission to turn the home from drab to fab.

One of their latest projects involved giving their hallway a total overhaul – and whilst some thought it looked ‘stunning’, others weren’t quite so keen.

Posting on social media, Molly gave her followers a close-up look at her hallway, before and after its renovation.

The short video was posted with the caption ‘the journey of our hallway’, and Molly confirmed that the pair decided to transform it after the plaster had blown.

Now, the hallway is almost unrecognisable, and is something you’d expect to find in an interiors magazine.

Originally, the space was incredibly dated, with bright blue carpet and orange walls.

In a bid to modernise the space, Molly and her partner got to work and took it back to bricks before decorating.

To add style to the hallway, the couple painted the walls using two shades, both from Dulux – Pure White and Gentle Fawn.

They also panelled the walls, got new flooring and covered the stairs with grey carpet.

To finish off the hallway and ensure it looked on trend, the DIY fans also painted the bannister black.

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @molallenx, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 196,500 views, 4,044 likes and 72 comments.

But social media users were left totally divided by the renovation project – despite some thinking it looked impressive, others weren’t as keen.
