But defender Maguire will be back in full training this week after missing the last seven games.

And his recovery could not come at a better time for boss Erik ten Hag after fellow defender Raphael Varane damaged a hamstring at Chelsea on Saturday.

England manager Gareth Southgate will be delighted to see Maguire, 29, in Qatar.

But Frenchman Varane was in tears and is likely to miss next month̢۪s tournament.

United team-mate Christian Eriksen said: “History is not in Raphael’s favour and we are all going to miss him.

“He has been in incredible shape in the games since I have been here.

“Now we just wait to find out what has happened with his injury and how long it is going to take him.

“But as a team, we will all support him in any possible way.”

Varane̢۪s absence could mean an extended run for Maguire, who was dropped after United̢۪s first two games of the season and has started one Europa League game since.

Now he will be hoping to feature in the remaining Prem games before joining up with loyal boss Southgate.
