BREAKING: Heavy gunfire in Abuja as Nigerian soldiers, Shi’ites clash during ‘free Palestinians’ protest

Published on March 28, 2025 at 03:49 PM

Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, known as Shi'ites, clashed with Nigerian soldiers over a protest against “injustice against Palestinians by Israel” in the Gaza Strip.

In a now-viral video on Friday, the Shi'ites were seen in large numbers at Bannex, Ademola Adetokunbo Crescent, Wuse 2, protesting against the situation of Palestinians in Gaza.

This comes just hours after the United States Embassy in Nigeria issued a security alert, warning its citizens about planned IMN protests in Abuja and other major cities on Friday.

The security warning listed potential protest locations, including Banex Plaza, Berger Junction, Unity Fountain, the National Human Rights Commission Head Office, Eagle Square, Area 10 Shopping Plaza, the National Mosque, Al-Noor Mosque, and Fouad Lababidi Mosque.
