He’ll be GOAT in eyes of people – Evra’s verdict on Messi vs Ronaldo debate

Published on December 23, 2022 at 05:31 PM

Former Manchester United left-back, Patrice Evra, shared his take on the Lionel Messi versus Cristiano Ronaldo GOAT (Greatest Of All Footballer) debate.

Evra said Messi would be GOAT in the eyes of people because he won the 2022 FIFA World Cup, adding that he wants people to stop the debate between the Argentine captain and Ronaldo.

Many have opined that Messi ended his GOAT debate with Ronaldo with his 2022 FIFA World Cup triumph.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward scored a brace as Argentina defeated France in the final at the Lusail Stadium last Sunday.

But Evra believes the comparison between Messi and Ronaldo is not fair and fans should stop it.

“By winning the World Cup, now Messi won’t live in the shadow of Diego Armando Maradona,”; Evra told Betfair.

“For the Argentina fans, they will never forget Maradona, but Messi is the one now, he’s the best player in the world for them.

“I can’t say he’s the best, I can’t say Cristiano Ronaldo is the best. I want people to stop this debate because everyone should have their opinion and everyone is different no matter what you achieve or win.

“But winning the World Cup, Messi will be the GOAT in people’s eyes because it is the ultimate prize.”;
