It comes after a poll of 2,000 adults revealed the top historical and criminal conundrums that have left people scratching their heads for decades.
With who what happened to Lord Lucan and the identity of Jack the Ripper featuring on the list of felonies still shrouded in uncertainty.
As 20 per cent even said they’d put down hard earned cash if it meant solving at least one of these riddles.
A spokesperson for which commissioned the research to launch its new show, Jack The Ripper: Written In Blood, said: “We seem to be fascinated by crimes of the past â especially those that are still a mystery.
“These cases, shrouded in intrigue and unanswered questions, offer a unique glimpse into the darker aspects of history.
“Our research sheds new light on these enigmatic crimes – providing fresh insights and perspectives that will hopefully fascinate and engage audiences.”
The study also found a fifth (21 per cent) would be confident they could crack an unsolved crime, with 23 per cent watching a TV show or documentary on this topic at least once a week.
Disappearance cases were cited as the most popular type (42 per cent), followed by cold case murders (37 per cent), and serial killers (37 per cent).
While 34 per cent enjoy historical mysteries due to their curiosity (59 per cent), the complexity of the case (36 per cent), and historical significance (31 per cent).
Voted as the most intriguing crime by those polled, the historical case of Jack the Ripper also came top for the one they would most like to solve.
However, 23 per cent think the real suspect has already been identified but not confirmed, with 63 per cent certain it was only one person â rather than multiple killers.
And 29 per cent believe letters publicised at the time, said to be written to the press from himself, to be hoaxes, while 30 per cent think they were a mixture of fake and real.
Reasons why those polled reckon Jack the Ripper’s murders remain some of the most famous unsolved crimes is because of the mystery surrounding the killer’s identity.
While 54 per cent think it’s due to the brutality of the murders, according to the OnePoll.com data.
The spokesperson added: “These unsolved cases captivate our imagination and drive us to seek answers.
“The allure of Jack the Ripper lies in the combination of historical intrigue and the chilling nature of the crimes.
“Our new docudrama aims to delve deeper into the evidence and theories, offering viewers an entirely new angle on a crime that has been shrouded in mystery for many years.”;
