A BUCKING horse went full “rodeo” during a race – as viewers hailed the jockey for somehow staying on.

Observers reckon it was more like a cartoonthan a serious event as Sunrain Sailing left riderCorey Wiles all at sea.

Not surprisingly, the mishaps left the horse well adrift of the field

The four-year-old mare went wild in the race at theMatamata course in Waikato, New Zealand.

Twisting and jerking for hundreds of metres as Wiles somehow successfully clung on, Sunrain Sailing was left way behind the rest of the field.

And fans were as amazed as much by the horse's behaviour as they were by the jockey's skill in staying in the saddle.

“Must've had my money on it,” joked one horse-racing enthusiast.

“My horses at Cheltenham,” another viewer reflected ruefully.

A third added: “That moment when you realise your ante post bet for the Melbourne Cup might have been a mistake.”

The race commentator was also shocked by Sunrain Sailing's choppy performance.

He said: “Putting on a rodeo performance here.I tell you what it has no intention of galloping.

“Put on a bucking performancefor the first 300 metres down the home straight.”

But he too was impressed by the rider as he added: “He's still sticking with it, is Corey Wiles.”

Viewers struggled to judge what had gone wrong in the Man vs Horse battle.

One wrote: “Looked like the saddle slipped back and the horse was reacting to it. Good job, jockey!”

Another cheekily suggested that SunRain Sailing might have developed an unhealthy addiction to cartoons.

He posted: “That horse has been watching too much Yellowstone!!”

Meanwhile, praise flowed in for Wiles' glue-like qualities as he remained on his mount.

“Well played Corey!” said one, while another added: “Amazing horsemanship.”

But there was at least one predictable thing in the drama.
