UK’s cheapest five star hotel dubbed a hidden gem has a private cinema and is right by a major train station

THE Roseate in Reading has been named as the cheapest five-star hotel in the UK.

Which? looked through advertised as five stars on Hotels.com to find the world's most affordable accommodation – and one is here in the UK.

The Roseate in Reading is top of the range when it comes to affordable luxury with stays from £135 per night.

The hotel is in a Grade II listed building dating back to 1911 and full of character including original wooden panelling and huge fireplaces.

Modern elements of the hotel include the opulent Italian chandelier made of 86,000 beads which runs the full height of the staircase.

The Roseate has 55 rooms, all with access to the on-site spa and gym.

They range from a classic king-bed room, to luxurious suites that come with four-poster beds, a dining area, bath and shower.

It also houses the Reading Room, a popular cocktail spot known for its brunches and lunches.

It even has a secret cinema room which can hold up 30 guests in its Italian leather seats, offering a very luxurious screening experience.

You can hire the space for a special event and, while watching your favourite , enjoy Prosecco, , , pizza and popcorn.

One guest wrote in their review: “We asked to use the cinema and had the whole to ourselves – with delicious cocktails and bar snacks being delivered from downstairs.”

Other guests praised the friendly staff and stylish, immaculate rooms.

Another described their stay as “nothing short of exceptional.”

It's also an easy hotel to get to thanks to its location in the heart of Reading.

The train station is a five-minute walk away and 12 minutes from Reading town centre.

The other affordable five-star hotels in the UK are The Grand Central Hotel, (£189), The Marcliffe in Aberdeen (£205) and voco St David’s, (£301).

Looking for the cheapest five-star hotel, Which? found the Emerald Bay Hotel & Spa in Nha Trang, .

Guests checking in can enjoy sea views, a rooftop terrace, and a private beach for the price of £22 per night.

Which? named the Grand Hotel Continental in Bucharest, , one of the most impressive European hotels.
