How to fake tan your hands without it going patchy and why you should never use a mitt for your fingers

THERE'S nothing quite as painful to look at as the dreaded Oompa Loompa hands.

If you're a fake tan lover, you'll know that it's quite tricky to achieve a natural-looking glow on your fingers – but luckily, one savvy beauty lover has come to rescue with just the right trick.

Are you tired of waking up to a patchy fake tan mess on your hands? One beauty buff has shared just the right solution
According to the LA-based TikToker, you should never use the tanning mitt when applying the product onto your hands

Taking to TikTok, blonde stunner Kyndall Ames revealed how to apply your favourite bronzing mousse on your hands to avoid a mess – and turns out, the secret is to not use the tanning mitt.

The LA-based beauty explained that once she is done applying the tanning product all over her body, she will use this as an opportunity to give it a rinse under the tap.

”Then I will wash my hands with soap in case any of the self-tan got on my palms or fingers while I was using the mitt,” she told her 15.4k followers in the video.

After this, Kyndall – who posts under the username @kyndallames – will apply a rich moisturiser on her hands to prep the skin and avoid a patchy disaster.

But what to use instead of a mitt? The American stunner was raving about an old make-up brush.

She went on: ”I'll just apply one pump onto my wrist and blend it into the arm in top and bottom.

”If you need a little bit more, I'll just take maybe like half a pump and then start blending this up into the fingers.

”It might not look like a lot of colour is on – but as long as your brush is damp, trust me you are getting the tan.

”You don't want to apply globs and globs onto your fingers.”

The final step, she said, was taking a damp wash cloth and rubbing this on your palms where your wrist and palms meet.

”I also rub this onto the palm side of each finger.”

Although this may seem ”like a lot of steps”, Kyndall reassured it was ”really simple” and you'll be left with a seamless tan all over.

Superdrug Solait Self Tan Mousse Medium – £4.79 (was £5.99) Buy Now

  • Tester: Abby Wilson, Senior Fabulous Digital Writer
  • Review: “This product give a very natural looking tan and if you wanted something a bit bolder, I'd suggest leaving it on longer or choosing a darker shade. I’m impressed with the results, but now my entire room stinks of the stuff. If you’re on a budget and want a tan for last-minute plans, I would say this is one to try. “

bBold Dream Mousse Tan in Dark – £9.50 Buy Now

  • Tester: Josie O’Brien, Senior Fabulous Digital Writer
  • Review: “The first thing that hit me about this tan was the “juicy watermelon”; scent – it’s delicious. I was left with a natural bronze hue rather than orange glow. My only qualm is that the tan seemed to stick to my dry patches and accentuated ‘strawberry skin’ on my legs. I’m still adding this tan to my arsenal though – the smell, colour and texture are dreamy.”

St Moriz Professional Medium Tanning Mousse – £4.99 Buy Now

  • Tester: Kate Kulniece, Fabulous Writer
  • Review: “Not only does St. Moriz mousse leave you with a gorgeous bronzed glow, but it also smells fabulous – think Piña Colada on a sunny beach. At first, I was a little bit sceptical cause I’m a gradual fake tan girlie, but this quick developing St. Moriz number may change it all.”

‘It worked like a charm'

Since being posted on the platform, the video has racked up close to a whopping 820k views and more than 130 comments.

One fellow tan lover said: ”I tried this last night and it worked like a CHARM!! Thank you!!!”

Another cried: ”seeing this the day after self tanning for the first time and my hands came out way too dark.”

”These are by far the best self tanned hands I’ve ever seen,” someone was amazed by the results.

A fourth chimed in: ”I do this as well but after about 30 min I also take the damp rag over my knuckles! I always hated dark knuckles!”

”You are a genius. My hands have never turned out so good!” a viewer thanked Kyndall.
