I tested three hydrating face mists to see if they can help me fight hayfever

hayfever recommendations from a boots pharmacist

IT’S officially hayfever season – which means, like clockwork, my skin is tight and itchy.

There’s one product I swear by to stop me scratching, and it’s a hydrating face mist.

Three facial mist sprays.
We put three hydrating face mists to the test

This week, I put three to the test.

BUDGET

Boots DermaCare Ceramides Replenishing Mist bottle.
Boots DermaCare Ceramides Replenishing Mist is great for the price

Boots DermaCare Ceramides Replenishing Mist, £6 for 100ml, boots.com: Despite the affordable price tag, this mist contains a hard-working cocktail of ceramides, hyaluronic acid, glycerin, vitamin E and probiotics to help boost the good bacteria on the skin’s surface, reduce irritation and leave skin smooth and soft.

Given the price, I can reapply frequently and not feel like I’m wasting money – plus, it sinks in so quickly my face never feels heavy or sticky – which means it’s perfect for sitting over make-up if you don’t love glowy skin and want to maintain the finish you started with.

MID-RANGE

Laneige Cream Skin Mist, 75ml bottle.
Laneige Cream Skin Cerapeptide Mist can be used in place of moisturiser

Laneige Cream Skin Cerapeptide Mist, £19 for 75ml, cultbeauty.co.uk: The brand is famous for its overnight lip treatment, but they have a strong range of skincare products.

This spritz has the finest mist of the three – which means it won’t leave wet spots in your make-up – but it’s also the most moisturising, so it can leave me looking like an oil slick if I use it during the day.

Because it’s so hydrating, I can use it in place of my moisturiser in the morning and evening to save time and avoid touching my face and passing even more allergens to my skin.

I'm an expert, here's how to get rid of one annoying hayfever symptom... and it's completely free

LUXURY

Dermalogica Hyaluronic Ceramide Mist bottle.
Dermalogica Hyaluronic Ceramide Mist leaves my face feeling fresh and itch-free

Dermalogica Hyaluronic Ceramide Mist, £49 for 150ml,
johnlewis.com
: Dermalogica is one of my most recommended brands to friends and family, as they’ve generally got something for everyone and can be tolerated by the most reactive skin.

I was dubious if this mist could match the price – but it has hundreds of five star reviews online, so they can’t all be wrong.

It’s scented, which isn’t great for sensitive skin, but I had no trouble.

While the ceramide, glycerin, hyaluronic acid and panthenol ingredients leave my face feeling fresh and itch-free.
