2025 U-20 AFCON: Flying Eagles want maximum points against Tunisia — Zubairu

Published on April 29, 2025 at 03:39 PM

Flying Eagles head coach Aliyu Zubairu has declared that his team will go for maximum points against Tunisia, DAILY POST reports.

The seven-time champions will begin their campaign at the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations against the Young Carthage Eagles at the June 30 Stadium in Cairo on Thursday.

Nigeria defeated Tunisia’s North African rivals, Egypt, 2-1 in a pre- tournament friendly last week.

Zubairu declared that the win over the hosts has boosted his side’s morale going into their opening fixture.

“That result has provided a good impetus for us as we prepare to face the Tunisians – another North African opposition. You need a result like that when you’re preparing for a competition like this,”; the young tactician told thenff.com.

“It does not mean that we will rest on our oars; it only serves to give us much-needed confidence and ginger us to face our challenges better.

“We will go for the maximum points against the Tunisians and then take it one step at a time as we forge ahead.”;

The Flying Eagles will also face Morocco and Kenya in the group.
