SPANKING new Fisker Ocean EVs which were abandoned on the side of the road for five months, are now expected to fetch a collective six-figure sum at auction.

The eight cars that had , near Nottingham’s city centre, were last night collected by John Pyre auction house to be sold to recover funds for the now defunct EV company creditors.

The convoy is now safely stored in the auction house’ John Pye’s secure site in Birmingham after its client, the “Official Receiver,” ordered their recovery.

A mixture of models from Ocean Extreme to Ocean Ultra and Ocean Sport will go up for auction on Monday, April 21.

Members of the public told Nottinghamshire Live that they had reported the “unusual and eerie convoy”; on various occasions – but they still collected dust for five months.

Despite Nottingham city notices ordering their removal by March 10, eight of the 4×4 EVs were languishing on the roadside until yesterday.

When 419 Fisker Ocean models first landed in the UK late 2023, they were worth between £36,900 to £57,900.

They are now expected to be flogged for a bargain £10k- £15k, each, according to the auction house.

This reflects the fact it will be a nightmare to obtain replacement parts since the American manufacturer went into liquidation last October.

The combined 22 tonnes of unwanted EVs were dumped by local dealer Premium Performance and Prestige Cars, to “relinquish responsibility for them.”;

The dealership claims they were simply storing them for the manufacturer, and couldn’t legally sell them after they went into liquidation.

In response to our request for comment, they said: “These cars are not in any way linked to our business, so we refrain from any further comment on them.”;

Local pranksters advertised the “free cars”; on social media, with Andy Harris posting a picture of the ghostly convoy, joking “There’s a few abandoned (cars) in Notts if you fancy one.”;

Steven Phillips joked that: “I suspect they’ll either get moved real soon or vandalised”; now the media has “told everyone where they are located.”;

Fisker Oceans was plagued with controversy even before the parent company filed for bankruptcy.

Customers branded the vehicles dangerous citing frequent brake failure, rapid battery draining and the spontaneous opening of windows when parked.

As the companies' financial woes mounted, their UK representatives simply stopped responding to customers' complaints.

One owner, Kevin Mulligan told The Telegraph last November how he feared for his life after his Fisker Ocean Extreme, advertised as being able to travel 440 miles on a single charge, coasted into the middle of a junction after the brakes failed.

John Pye Auctions, one of the UK’s largest auction houses said: “All 44 Fisker vehicles have been carefully collected and transported to John Pye’s secure Birmingham site, where they are being professionally stored and prepared for public auction.

“The vehicles will be released for bidding in phases over the coming weeks, allowing interested buyers multiple chances to participate in this unique disposal event.”;

Nottingham City Council has been approached for comment.
