Adamawa govt offers automatic employment to 60 graduate engineers

Published on April 04, 2025 at 07:07 AM

The Government of Adamawa State has offered automatic employment to 60 graduate engineers.

The fresh graduates had earlier been sponsored by the government for the engineering training in India.

They are to get the job after their one-year mandatory national service under the NYSC scheme.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri announced the offer in Yola when the young engineers paid him a thank-you visit for the scholarship opportunity that enabled them the foreign engineering training.

The commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr Umar Umar Garba Pella, who briefed newsmen on the event, recalled that the scholarship scheme was introduced in 2020 to support the Adamawa indigenes on the five-year engineering programme.

He added that Governor Fintiri, impressed with the students’ performance, said his administration would sustain the program so that more Adamawa indigenes can benefit.

He said the State Government is making preparations to send another batch of students, this time to study in China under its next scholarship program.

One of the young engineers, Tahir Iju Sama’ila who spoke for his colleagues, thanked Fintiri and his cabinet for the opportunity to study abroad and for the job offer.

He said they were impressed that while some other states abandoned their students, Adamawa had shown commitment to the wellbeing of its students.
