Adamawa Police Command deploys personnel to Kwapre after attack on vigilantes

Published on April 27, 2025 at 07:21 PM

The Adamawa State Police Command has announced the deployment of additional security personnel to Kwapre, a village in Hong Local Government Area.

The deployment, disclosed in a statement obtained by DAILY POST on Sunday evening, followed an attack by gunmen believed by locals to be Boko Haram terrorists on Kwapre earlier on Saturday, 26th April, during which 10 vigilantes were reportedly killed.

The police command made no reference to casualties following the attack but noted that the deployment “followed an ambush laid on hunters and some civilian JTF by heavily armed men in the late hours of 26/4/2025 in Kopre, a village sharing a border with Borno State.”

The statement, signed by Police Public Relations Officer Suleiman Nguroje stated that the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, had instructed the officers deployed to display skill, professionalism, and prompt response as part of a strategy to prevent all forms of violent crime.

The statement further added, “The police boss demonstrates the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and the dedication of the officers deployed in combating crime across the border.

“The command urges the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies by providing timely information that can aid in preventing crime and ensuring public safety.”
