After weeks of Ramadan break, Kano govt announces resumption dates for schools

Published on April 05, 2025 at 05:31 AM

The Kano State Government has announced that all boarding and day schools across the state will resume for the third term of the 2024/2025 academic session on April 6 and 7, 2025, respectively.

This was made known in a statement released on Friday by the Director of Public Enlightenment at the Ministry of Education, Balarabe Kiru.

Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Makoda, urged parents and guardians to take note of the dates and ensure that their children return to school promptly. He emphasized that lateness would not be tolerated.

“We expect all students to resume on time. Anyone who fails to do so risks facing disciplinary actions,”; Dr. Makoda warned.

The commissioner also issued a stern caution to students against bringing dangerous or banned items to school.

“Students are advised not to come to school with prohibited items such as knives, razors, and hard drugs. Discipline and lawfulness are essential for academic success,”; he said.

Dr. Makoda further directed all teaching and non-teaching staff to resume duties as scheduled, noting that the ministry would conduct routine monitoring to ensure compliance with punctuality and performance standards.

“Routine checks will be carried out by the ministry to monitor punctuality and staff performance,”; he stated.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to educational advancement, the commissioner said Kano State remains dedicated to improving access to quality education and creating an environment conducive to learning.

“This administration remains committed to improving access to quality education and fostering a learning-friendly environment,”; he concluded.
