ROY KEANE sent a blunt message to old foe Alan Shearer as he reflected on their infamous bust-up.

The former star was sent off for the second time at St. James' Park after a coming together with the legendary striker.

It was a dismal day in September 2001 for Keane and United as they fell to a 4-3 loss thanks to a late own goal.

Keane admits he still has not forgiven his former team-mate for the goal, while joking that he still finds annoying.

He said on Sky Sports: “People annoy me. I think I got fined two weeks wages.

“I'm still annoyed at Wes [Brown] for that own goal at the end.

“People used to annoy me. One in particular. Any he still annoys me.”

Keane, 53, received a red card after throwing the ball at Shearer's head in retaliation after he was shoved by the icon.

The pair then had a coming together and tried to take another swipe at his opponent, missing and instead knocking the yellow card out of the referee's hand.

Speaking about the incident previously, Keane shared how he felt his initial push did not warrant a red card, which is why he went for the punch as well.

He said: “I lost my temper, we were losing 4-3, I think, in the last minute.

“If you're going to get sent off, the worst thing is, I pushed him. If you're going to get sent off you might as well punch him properly because you're going to get the same punishment.

“You might as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb. That's what I was thinking afterwards. It was just a push. It was ridiculous.”
