All those attacking Trump’s envoy, Steve Witkoff are mad – US VP, JD Vance

Published on March 24, 2025 at 06:21 PM

US Vice President, JD Vance has slammed critics of President Donald Trump's foreign envoy, Steve Witkoff, over verbal attacks on the latter.

In a post on his official X handle on Monday, Vance alleged that the critics are mad because Steve Witkoff is “succeeding where they failed for 40 years”.

He wrote, “Steve Witkoff is a great guy doing an incredible job. The people sniping at him are mad that he is succeeding where they failed for 40 years.

“Turns out a lot of diplomacy boils down to a simple skill: don’t be an idiot”.

DAILY POST reports that Witkof recently came under heavy criticism after praising the Russian President, Vladimir Putin.

Recall that after meeting Putin last week in Moscow the envoy told US media that the Russian leader told him he (Putin) had prayed for his “friend”; US President Donald Trump when he was shot.

In an interview with right-wing podcast host Tucker Carlson, Witkof said he has come to regard Putin as not a “bad guy,”; and that the Russian president was a “great”; leader seeking to end Moscow’s deadly three-year conflict with Kyiv.

This didn't go well with some Americans particularly opposition figures, who believe that Putin should be held responsible for innocent people killed in the ongoing war.
