Arewa youths president demands apology from VeryDarkMan over Sultan of Sokoto comments

The President of Arewa Youths, Ambassador Abdul DanBature, has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to celebrity critic Verydarkman (VDM) to apologize to the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa'ad Abubakar, after he publicly opposed the Sultan’s remarks on social media’s role in promoting terrorism.

The controversy began when VDM criticized the Sultan’s statement about social media being a major tool for terrorism. VDM referred to the Sultan as “emotional,”; emphasizing that many use social media for positive purposes.

In response, Abdul DanBature called for VDM to retract his statement, stating, “We want Verydarkman to quickly withdraw his statement and apologize to the Sultan of Sokoto and to the people of Northern Nigeria.”

He also urged VDM to respect the Sultan's position as a revered leader of the Northern Nigerian community.

The standoff has sparked mixed reactions online, with many debating the role of social media and the influence of prominent figures in public discourse.

The Arewa Youths President’s order further highlights the ongoing tension surrounding freedom of speech and respect for traditional leaders in Nigeria.
