Suspected armed herdsmen have reportedly seized the wife of a kindred head and two other women in Gwer-West Local Government Area Benue State .

The incident occurred on Monday along Unande KM4 Naka-Adoka-Ankpa road.

A source who spoke on condition of anonymity said the women were abducted by gun wielding Fulani herdsmen while returning from the farm.

“On Monday by 1:00 pm, three women who were returning from the farm were kidnapped by suspected Fulani herdsmen along Naka-Adoka-Anka road.

“Some of the kidnappers were covering their faces while some aren't.

“We suspect those ones covering their faces are insiders while those who are not covering their faces are pure Fulanis,” he said.

Kidnappers and Fulani herdsmen have taken over the Makurdi-Naka road and it is no longer safe for motorists and passengers.

Efforts to confirm the incident from the spokesperson of the Benue Police Command was not successful as calls to her mobile telephone could not go through as the time of this report.
