How Arsenal could line up against Newcastle with Mikel Arteta to stick with same XI that beat Brighton

ARSENAL manager Mikel Arteta is expected to name an unchanged side as they welcome Newcastle.

The Gunners were fantastic as they ripped Brighton apart in their 4-2 win at the Amex Stadium.

There are no fresh injury concerns for the Spaniard to worry about and he is therefore not expected to rotate the team.

The Arsenal squad will nearly get a full week’s worth of rest after the game as they don’t play Oxford in the FA Cup until next Monday – changes are likely to be made versus the League One side.

Gabriel Jesus will be unavailable for a long period of time due to a knee injury, he recently underwent surgery.

Reiss Nelson is with him in the treatment room because of a hamstring issue.

Arteta has hinted that Emile Smith Rowe could make his return in January after a lengthy spell out injured.

The game versus fellow high-flyers Newcastle is reportedly too soon for his comeback although he is training again.

Takehiro Tomiyasu is fit after recovering from a hamstring problem but he is not expected to take Ben White’s place at right-back.

There is a chance that a change is made on the opposite side of the back four as Oleksandr Zinchenko has only just come back from a spell out injured.

Kieran Tierney could be given the job of stopping the in-form Miguel Almiron instead of the Ukrainian.

Centre-back partners Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba will keep their spots in the team, as will midfield maestros Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey.

In attack, expect Martin Odegaard to be the creator for Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Eddie Nketiah.
