Attackers of Bokkos residents are familiar faces – District Head

Published on April 09, 2025 at 05:30 PM

The District Head of Manguna in Bokkos Local Government Area, LGA, Alo Raymond, said the gunmen who recently attacked some communities in the district are familiar faces.

Raymond said this during a peace meeting convened by the Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, the Chief of Staff Army, COAS, recently in Bokkos.

DAILYPOST recalls that on April 2, gunmen attacked Hurti, Josho, Daffo, Manguna and other communities of the locality.

More than 50 residents were killed, over 300 houses destroyed and over 1,000 persons were displaced due to the attack.

Also, on the 27th of March, mourners were attacked during a wake, 10 people lost their lives as a result of the incident.

The district head explained that the gunmen invaded the communities in the day time and unleashed mayhem on the peaceful residents.

“The attackers of our people are not faceless; they are people we know because they didn't mask their faces while carrying out the criminal act.

“We have given their names to the security agencies and we believe necessary action will be taken,”he said.

Raymond also alleged that the consistent attacks on the communities were geared towards land grabbing.

The district head, who called for deployment of more security personnel to the communities, insisted that his people would not abandon their land for others to take over.
