Bank driver stabbed to death while helping vigilante group arrest criminal in Minna

A violent incident on Sunday, in the Fadikpe area of Minna, Niger State has resulted in the death of one Mohammed Am'ore, a GTB driver and community member when he tried to assist vigilante members to arrest suspected miscreants.

The incident unfolded when the vigilante group received information yesterday night at about 10:30pm about individuals smoking cannabis in the area.

It was gathered that the vigilant group in the area mobilized alongside the deceased to apprehend them before the arrival of the Police where one of the suspects stabbed him leading to his death.

Our Correspondent learnt that despite being rushed to General Hospital Minna, Am'ore succumbed to his injuries.

Confirming the incident, the state Police through the Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun said on 20th April, 2025 at about 10.45pm, information was received from a vigilante leader in Fadikpe area of Minna, that some miscreants were sighted around Rafi area of Fadikpe smoking cannabis.

According to him, ” As a result of this, the vigilante members mobilised to the area to effect arrest pending the arrival of the Police, while one Mohammed Am'ore, a community member volunteered to assist the vigilante men in the arrest”

” Unfortunately, in the process of getting one of the miscreants arrested, Am'ore was stabbed with scissors by one Nura Buhari, who escaped”

He explained that the victim was rushed to General Hospital Minna where he died.

However, he disclosed that one of the miscreants, Abdullahi Rabiu, was arrested and is under investigation, assisting the police with further information.

Abiodun further revealed that efforts are ongoing to arrest others.
