The Bauchi State Government has announced its readiness to participate in the 22nd edition of the National Sports Festival (NSF), slated to hold in Abeokuta, Ogun State, from May 16 to 30, 2025.

Deputy Governor Auwal Jatau made the disclosure on Saturday during a courtesy visit by officials of the State Sports Council and the National Sports Commission to the Government House in Bauchi.

According to Jatau, Governor Bala Mohammed has given full approval for the state’s participation and has assured complete support for the contingent representing Bauchi at the national event.

“Bauchi State has been a proud participant in the National Sports Festival since 1976. Over the years, we’ve showcased strength in athletics, football, hockey, boxing, and basketball,”; he said.

He expressed optimism about the state’s prospects in the upcoming games, citing Bauchi's history of medal-winning performances and the government’s continued investment in youth and sports development.

Jatau also commended the National Sports Commission and the Festival Committee for using sports as a tool to foster unity and national cohesion.

Earlier, Mrs Mbora Ikana, Team Leader of the Movement of the Torch of Unity for the 22nd NSF, confirmed the festival's dates and location.

She commended Governor Mohammed’s unwavering support for sports and assured Bauchi of the Commission’s readiness to collaborate in enhancing its sporting achievements.
