Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has approved N872.3 million as the state’s counterpart funding for the Primary Healthcare Basket Fund.

The announcement was made by Deputy Governor Mohammed Auwal Jatau during a meeting of the State Task Force on Primary Healthcare.

He said over N261 million has already been released to support the state’s healthcare board, demonstrating the government's strong commitment to improving health services, infrastructure, and support for frontline workers across the state.

Jatau said the meeting aimed to review progress from previous health plans, share updates on the 2025 operational plan, and prepare for the April National Immunization Plus Days.

He commended health workers and volunteers for their dedication and presented awards to individuals and health centres for outstanding service.

Jatau assured that the government would continue investing in healthcare, especially for women and children, as part of its push to achieve Universal Health Coverage.

He also appreciated the contributions of development partners and called for continued collaboration to strengthen healthcare in Bauchi.

The Emir of Dass, Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman, who co-chairs the task force, also commended the progress made in health programs across the state.
